Welcome

Welcome to the home page of Tyneside Solidarity (TSol). A new initiative in the North East made up of members of SolFed, AFed, IWW and other non-aligned class-struggle anarchists. We aim to focus on local community and workplace issues that are both relevant to people's lives and winnable.

Welcome

All over the world anarchist ideas are on the rise.

Whether it's scare stories in the newspapers or positive social and workplace activism, there is currently a massive upsurge of interest in anarchist politics.

People are searching for a better way to organise society and to fight capitalism, and many of those people are coming our way.

Anarchist ideas of democracy from below are gaining credibility and legitimacy that hasn't been seen since the 1930s.

Given this we have launched Tyneside Solidarity, which aims to make anarchism local and relevant to people's lives.

To do this we feel that it is necessary to run campaigns of support and direct action that are local, targetted and winnable. We draw our inspiration from the successes of community and workplace groups like London Coalition Against Poverty and the Seattle Solidarity Network, which, through organising locally using direct action tactics, have time and time again got results.

We cannot stress enough the strategy of setting our sights on stuff that is tangible and relevant to people lives.

We cannot stress enough the strategy of setting our sights on stuff that is tangible and relevant to people's lives. Of course, we remain a revolutionary group; we want to see the end of capitalism and the obscene amount of power and wealth held by the few over the many. But we can only start a process of revolutionary transformation when we convince people that our ideas are coherent, realistic and get results. We work as a sort of umbrella group, enriching and strengthening through union with people from differing groups; differing, but in agreement with where we're going and how to get there.

Rather than bombard people new to our politics with jargon-thick theory, we hope to explain as much as we can in clear terms, offering explanations or web links whenever we can.

We welcome all who want to get involved with TSol.
